Congratulations to Steve Woollett, winner of this year’s Lingard Trophy. [Devon1] So deserved for the solo organisation of our epic trip to Brittany in May. Steve had been a little ‘stalked’ by Jon Chartres and I before the presentation! I made the trip to Lubenham for the Club AGM and returned with trophies to present to North Devon Area (Best Area) and for the Isle of Wight Area (Special Award for Joe and Roxy). WHAT WE’VE DONE Club Night at the Star saw a full pub – just as well we’d given them our numbers! Several cars in the car park as the evenings pull in. It was good to see Maurice and Mary with their freshly painted Maple 1500TC, and Bob with his immaculate GT6 Mk2. Dan’s estate, Steve’s Stag, Bob S’s Vitesse, Graeme’s Spitfire, Phil’s GT6 Mk3 and Richard’s MGA. The latter glad to be back in the UK after a holiday in Spain involving ten breakdowns in a day – it wouldn’t have happened had he been driving a Triumph would it? A fabulous October run once again organized by Jon Chartres, however he failed to organize the weather! Nevertheless 6 Triumphs and a couple of moderns gathered at Knightstone Tea Rooms, Yelverton and set off on a 47 mile run. Fantastic roads and equally fantastic deluge. Everyone kept going including first timer new member Alan and his original Sienna Brown Mk4. Congratulations to all who brought proper cars. Superb carvery – note to self – small one next time and we’ve booked for next year already.
