Hi All. The events I have attended so far have been blighted with rainy weather. The first one was a GVRS outing to the amazing Frendraught Vehicle Collection, this is a private collection of a large number of cars, commercial, agricultural & military vehicles from the 30’s to the the present day. Most of the cars are running with some in concours condition and some needing a bit of work which is ongoing. The Triumphs they have is a Dolly Sprint and a GT6. The Turriff Rally and GTM’s how many left show was on the same day, the weather was glorious but due to a family bereavement I could not make either event. A very wet day at Crathes saw the numbers being reduced but there was still a reasonable turn out of Triumphs with a Spitfire 1500, Acclaim, GT6 (in the public car park) & 3 Stags keeping the side up. Our Triumph summer run was held from 31st May to 4th June, This year it was organised by Graham R and we headed for Helensburgh (Rhu) for a couple of nights and then some of us carried on Rothesay on the Isle of Bute for an other two night stop. Graham led us in his Fiat 124, his Stag is still in the repair shop, through some beautiful scenery during the first two days in which we encountered steep mountain climbs, hairpin bends and ferry crossings. I then led a small convoy of 5 cars to Bute on the third day, again the scenery was great with the rain clearing just before we reached the Colintraive ferry. The Triumphs on the trip were, TR2, TR3A, TR6 & 5 Stags. The other cars included a Lotus Excel, Merc 280 SL & a Fiat 124. The total distance travelled for the trip was around 737 miles, we all seemed to have slightly different odometer readings! We now have to decide where to go next year, is there any volunteers for organising the 2020 Triumph Summer Run?
