firstly as many of you may have noticed there wasn't an area news article from us in last months Courier magazine, which I apologise for. Unfortunately my father in law passed away very unexpectedly so I had to put Club area business on hold while we sorted things out etc. Anyway things are moving forward and we attended a large local show in June at the Tatton Park Classic car show, where we had a stand over the two day weekend, we displayed 12 cars both days and there was good attendance despite a little rain on the sunday. One of our members had purchased a GT6 to go in his garage with his Vitesse and had it on our stand and I managed to get our Vitesse 2ltr to its first show, as it hadn't been on the road for 30 years. Gary had rejoined the club and had his newly acquired powder blue Sixfire (or gitfire) on display. We had a show and shine vote for the Ian Hartley trophy which is awarded each year, Gary won with his Sixfire and kevin who joined us from Lancashire area taking 2nd place with his vitesse and Geoff 3rd with his GT6.
In May some of our members attended the Chipping Steam fair which again was a great show despite the weather trying to spoil things.
Pauls Spitfire restoration is progressing swiftly, fitted his new bonnet which needed some tinkering to fit and worked on his door gaps by welding in some 3mm rod and grinding back, first time he had used the process but turned out well and he recommends.
Monty finally after two years of waiting has finally got his new convertible roof fitted to his Bond Equipe, as it needed a specialist to fit it as its longer etc than a standard Vitesse one.
At the end of June we have some cars attending the Lymm Historic Vehicle day, we have attended this show for the past few years, always a great day with vehicles ranging from classic cars, tractors, traction engines, barges, model planes, bikes plane fly overs etc. Photos of the show will be on our Facebook page and in the next Courier.
Hope to see some of you over the course of the summer at the various shows that are on and fingers crossed that this rain subsides and a summer finally begins.
Our July meeting will be held on Tuesday July 2nd at the Swettenham Arms car park, Swettenham Lane, Congleton, CW12 2LF. we are holding the meeting there over the summer months as there is a classic car meet on there and gives us a chance to looks around some cars and have a chat rather than just sat in a function room. Hope to see you there from around 7pm, if you are new keep a look out for my dark blue Vitesse and I will be wearing a TSSC shirt.
Also please look at our Facebook pagewww.facebook.com/groups/tsscmanchesterarea or join us at one of our monthly meetings where you will be warmly welcomed.
