Hi Folks. A number of events to report on this month starting on the weekend of the 11th & 12th of May with the Bidford Vintage Gathering at Bidford on Avon by the side of the river, a lovely spot and a very good small show with something for everyone, we took our classic camper, a 1985 Talbot Express Auto Sleeper towing the "Smiffy Spitty" on an "A" frame and camped for the weekend on the showground itself joining the classic caravans and camper vans where we set up our pitch to be joined by Chris Suffell with his TR7 & Roger & Dot Smith with their Stag on the Saturday and Steve & Sharon Long in their Herald Convertible and Keith & Trish in their Mazda Eunos on the Sunday. The weather was fairly kind to us and the pork batches and beer were excellent. Also the gang from the Heart of England were set up just one unit away from us so a lot of friendly company was had. The Heart of England meet at Bulkington on Tuesday 14th was well attended with over 40 vehicles on display, unfortunately their second meet of the month on Tuesday 28th was not so well supported with only a dozen vehicles turning out. Still on both nights it was round the corner to bring back fish & chips and with cheap drinks from the club a good noggin and a natter was had by all. The pre 1940 Triumph Club event at Wroxhall Abbey was our next outing on Sunday 19th, what a fantastic turnout with over 300 Triumphs on show plus a few other makes, 14 of us in 8 cars met up at the Honilley Conference  to travel in convoy to the show, joining us for the first time was Richard & Carol Trundle in their lovely Vitesse and we were also joined later by Liz Rochford in her 2.5pi giving us a display of 9 cars from our area. Apart from a small shower later in the day the weather was fairly kind to us. Sunday 26th was our monthly Dalos Day (Drive and lunch on Sunday) Run once again planned by Steve & Sharon there were 11 of us in 5 cars for a run which was up to their normal high standard find still more narrow lanes we hadn't driven down before and concluding the run at the Lord Nelson in Ansley for lunch, With a good choice of menu and good food. Well done Steve & Sharon for another great day out in great cars and great company. Sunday 2nd of June it was off to Coventry Motofest, 11 of us in 6 cars met at the Alvis retail park to travel into Broadgate in convoy where we were parked at the top of Hertford Street with other Coventry made cars, a couple of us managed to be under the archway into Broadgate so we stopped dry when it began top rain, The event seems to be going from strength to strength but temporary seating needs to be erected along side the ring road so spectators can see what's going on, still a good event and a lot of interest in our cars. Tuesday 2nd June our monthly meeting at the Bull & Butcher, Corley Moor, well guess what happened, yes again it poured down with rain, if you want an event that needs rain plan it for the first Tuesday of the month, although Ann opened the paddocks for us to display our cars the only person to come in a classic car was Roger Smith in his Stag, well done Roger. The meeting was down in numbers due mainly to the weather with only 12 of us in attendance with 5 of us enjoying a meal pre meeting. Events this month start with the Barn Brewery Nr Willey on Sunday 9th , anyone going to Ashby Magna w/e 15th/16th June please let us know so we can save you a space as we are there all weekend. Dalos Day Run for June is on the23rd planned by Keith & Trish we will meet in the layby opposite the Copper Kettle on the A5 north of Nuneaton at 12.15pm ready to leave at 12.30pm, must know numbers by Wednesday19th. We have been approached by Neale Hayward to put on a display in Bedworth Market on Saturday July 27th, you will need to be at the Mill Street entrance at 8.30am those of you who wish to attend please let us know ASAP so we can inform Neale as to how many will be going. We have paid for the new flag etc £78 and we have also added another £6.00 from the sales of DVD & Manuals to the club funds in May. If you & your friends want to join us at any of the future events, don't forget all makes welcome and would you please inform us either by text on 07711 337797 or email on phillyncovtssc@yahoo.co.uk Well that's all for now folks lets hope for better weather at our next monthly meeting so we can put on a decent display for the Bull & Butcher.
