Hi All,

The 6th December saw our last meeting of the year. It was a cracking evening and as expected, we stuffed ourselves silly with pizza, chips and chicken. Some of us could not get enough and took doggy bags home - for the dog of course.

A couple of paper quizzes were on hand to keep the brain active. One was a logo quiz and the other a Christmas dingbats challenge. Two teams surprisingly scored top marks in both and prizes had to be shared - more eating.

It was good to see John Eade at our meeting and enjoy a bit of a catch up. Baby Bob also made a return without Bob.

It was announced that the New Year Run will be held a little later in 2023 on the 15th January. Meet at Sainsburys car park (DE5 3QP) from 10am to set off at 10:30am on a scenic drive around Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire. I am sure there will be lunch stop at some point in the day.

However, the best news of the evening was that Bryan Clayton stepped forward and became the new AO for Derwent Valley. Congratulations Bryan, I hope you enjoy the role as much as I have.

Bryan's first announcement was that the next meeting will be at Top Club, Stanley Common, DE7 6FY on 10th January 2023 starting from 7:30pm.

Roger and Julie hosted Octobers club night and we were treated to Julie's Bingo. As this was the first time I had played Julie's Bingo (as I am usually back stage at the Peak Run) I did not know exactly what to expect. I had heard so much about it and I hoped it would live up to its reputation. It certainly did it was a laugh a minute.

The prizes for a line and a full house were bottles - bottles of water, shampoo, Mayo etc., but no wine.

Kim and Paul hosted Novembers club night, well mainly Kim as a surprise visitor from North Devon distracted Paul. Bob was in the area visiting his daughter and took the opportunity to pop in for a catch up. It was great to see you, Bob.

Kim had prepared a Halloween themed Quiz, which was very good. I was shocked to discover how many answers I actually knew. The result was very close with only 3 points separating all the teams, but two teams came out on top. However, has we did not have a tie-breaker question the prizes where shared.

Our November meeting is also our AGM. I summarised the last 12 months and Gary ran through the accounts including the Peak Run finances. I am unable to continue in the role of Area Organiser for 2023 so I stepped down.

Unfortunately, no one present was able to take on this rewarding role and the position remains vacant. This means that the area cannot hold monthly meetings including Fish and Chip runs or organise events such as the New Year Run and the Peak Run.

I found that being the Area Organiser very rewarding and would like to thank everyone who has supported me over the many years I have held the position. Being involved in the organisation of the Peak Run for 18 years has given me countless precious memories that I will treasure forever. Don't worry I'm not disappearing altogether I am still attending TSSC meetings and events whenever I can.

The next monthly meeting will be our usual Christmas Buffet, but without the everyone's a winner raffle so you can keep your £2 in your pockets. It is on Tuesday 6th December 2022 at the Top Club, Stanley Common (DE7 6FY) from 7:30pm.

Hi All

September's monthly meeting was well attended and had an eventful start. Our usual meeting venue had decided to close on a Monday night and open on a Tuesday instead but had not told us. We had a suspicion that this might be the case by the doors to the club being locked shut and a quick phone call to one of the committee members to confirm. After a bit of head scratching and waiting until 8pm for any late comers, we decided to relocate to a classic car friendly pub a short distance away.

Monday night was obviously a quieter night at the pub as they were surprised when 18 people all arrived together and lined up at the bar. We were made to feel very welcome by the staff.

A quiz had been prepared for the evening but was not needed as we filled the room with merriment and some great banter. We had a lot of catching up to do since we last met. Extended trips to Australia, Grand children being born (so baby pics were circulated).

One of the highlights of the evening was the surprise birthday cake complete with 59 candles and a chorus of happy birthday to Adrian, who managed a few extra celebratory pints even though it was a school night. Well, it is only once a year.

Change of monthly meeting arrangements for October. We will be at the Top Club but on the Tuesday night 4th October.

The November meeting will be at Top Club on Tuesday 1st November when we will be eating more Birthday cake.
